Keep sharpening the pencil.
The hard plastic exterior softens into the wax pencil so it loses the visible separation from the outer plastic.
Originally I thought the same as you and months ago threw out a lip liner designed the same not thinking to just keep sharpening the pencil.
My daughter gets a monthly surprise package of cosmetics/face products and the Qveen's duo was among the products.
I love the liner and pencil and will be ordering it in the future.
